Dress code

At The School of Leadership we are a family. As Lions we move together, chest up and proud. It is important for the success of our students and community to build and maintain a cohesive familial community where members of the community wear their badge of honor, which is our school logo.

Students:

All students will be provided with one school polo, one school hooded sweatshirt, and one school t-shirt. Students are expected to wear one of the three tops each day. Thursdays will be “Throwback Thursday” and students are then allowed to wear any previously branded I.S. 313 school apparel.

  • 6th & 7th grade Students will wear NAVY tops

  • 8th grade Students will wear PURPLE tops

**Both NAVY and PURPLE are colors of royalty and we wear them with pride**

Staff:

All staff members should dress in a manner that is an example for our students. Business casual is suggested. I.S. 313 branded apparel is also acceptable.

Dress Expectations
Our school promotes a welcoming and inclusive environment where students have the autonomy to express themselves through their attire, guided by the principles of safety, respect, and equality. In accordance with the New York City Public Schools (DOE) policy, students have the right to determine their own attire, except where it poses safety risks, disrupts learning, or violates anti-discrimination policies. Our dress code is gender-neutral, ensuring that all students are treated equitably and without bias. Attire containing discriminatory language, inappropriate imagery, profanity, obscenity, nudity, or references to violence or gang affiliation is strictly prohibited. Revealing clothing that does not provide full coverage of private body parts is also considered inappropriate. Our school's dress expectations prioritize inclusivity, respect, and student autonomy while maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment. By adhering to these guidelines, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and acceptance for all members of our school community.
